End of Semester
Now that you have [almost] completed the course, please answer each survey question once more in a few thoughtful sentences.
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I hope to use art to engage my students and to make their leaning more meaningful. During this class, after I completed a studio on a certain artist, I found that I understood the information I learned about that artist more. This relates to the last studio I created, which ties into my integrated art lesson plan I have developed. I drew a portrait that reflects cubist art with geometric shapes and oil pastels. I learned a lot about cubism after creating the lesson but I found that making the cubist portrait really made all the previous information I had learned, more meaningful.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I know that art can be integrated in many different ways. In each studio reflection, we were are asked to talk about how we would integrate each studio with different subjects and I found that I could use each studio with at least every subject! Connecting and tying in different topics and subjects is a lot more simple than I thought. Now that I have almost completed the course, I definitely feel that integration is a lot more meaningful to me since I am well aware of the benefits.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
After completing all the studios this semester, my confidence in art making has definitely increased by a lot! I must say that before taking this class I was definitely intimidated by the idea of making different kinds of art. However, now that I have almost completed this website filled with my artwork, I have found that I am very excited to show people what I am capable of creating. The respectful classroom atmosphere also helped with my comfortability because there was never a point where I felt like a piece of my artwork was being judged.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
After learning and practicing VTS, I feel quite comfortable about analyzing and discussing art with a small group of people. However, since I have not had much experience leading a VTS session, I do not feel as comfortable in this area. The multiple VTS sessions I have participated in have really allowed me to become more comfortable with talking about art and exploring the many interpretations. One thing I like about VTS is that there are no right or wrong answers and everyones views are respected. This makes it easier to participate during such sessions.
